Wellington is just 15 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport, and full of amazing things to do for travelers of all interests. It truly has something for everyone.

For the “horse lovers,” you just can’t beat Wellington. Known as the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World, Wellington is home to an international equestrian community featuring more than 57 miles of trails for horseback riding. This elaborate trail system provides residents the opportunity for recreation, exercise and transportation throughout the community.   International Polo Club Palm Beach is the premier polo destination in the world, hosting the largest field of high-goal teams and the most prestigious polo tournaments played in the U.S. The Palm Beach polo season opens on the first Sunday in January and concludes 16 weeks later. Polo matches are open to the public, and tickets start at just $10.   On Saturday evenings, horse lovers can enjoy Saturday Night Lights, which is held at the Palm Beach Equestrian Center. The horse jumping season starts in January and runs through April. The jumping starts at 7 p.m., but doors open at 6 for family fun. A carousel, face painting and a petting zoo are just a few of the highlights. Admission is free; however, there is a charge for self-parking ($20 per car).   Another place to check out is the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame. The museum describes itself as a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the sport and its history, development and traditions by acquiring, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting collections, as well as honoring those who have made outstanding contributions to the sport.   For the “art lovers,” Art Fest on the Green features more than 50 local artists that work in every medium imaginable. Or how about taking an art class while sipping on some wine at ArtCellar. It’s amazing how their instructors can help a novice painter like me create something I actually love hanging in my house for everyone to see.   For the “green market lovers,” spend the morning enjoying Green Market fun at the Wellington Amphitheatre. Vendors sell local produce, meats and cheeses, and so much more! There are also vendors selling crafts and other artisan items. The warm donuts accompanied by a cup of coffee are my favorite green market morning treat.  

For when the “beer lovers” come to visit, we have the Brew Fest, which takes place in February. The event allows guests to try an impressive array of craft brews and hard ciders from Florida and beyond, accompanied by an assortment of food trucks and other craft beer-centric games and entertainment.   For the “bacon lovers” out there, the Bacon & Bourbon Fest is a must! A family-friendly event that celebrates the amazing food that is bacon and the tradition of the American-made spirit, bourbon.   For the “quality family time lovers,” Wellington is truly the place to be. The Lakeside Family Fun Event Series provides FREE family fun. Bounce houses, music, face painters and family-friendly businesses set alongside beautiful Lake Wellington makes for perfect family time. Each one is a different fun family-friendly theme. If there isn’t an event happening at Lakeside, there’s most likely live music or a movie playing at the Wellington Amphitheater. On Thursday evenings, make sure to bring a blanket, grab some food from the food trucks and listen to the free concerts.   There are also tons of neighborhood parks to enjoy—28, to be exact—and some include a boat dock and park fun for our four-legged family members.   For the “fireworks lovers,” Wellington goes all out for their 4th of July Celebration. It’s a free event that has live music, entertainment, fun games, food and so much more at Village Park. The evening ends with an amazing fireworks display!   An event that rivals the 4th of July Celebration but occurs during the fall is the Fall Festival, again at Village Park. This evening features trick-or-treating, costume contests and, of course, great entertainment with yummy food.   For the “outdoors lovers,” Wellington is full of places to enjoy the beautiful green space that the village has to offer and ample opportunities to participate in outdoor activities. A morning hike at the Wellington Environmental Preserve can be followed by biking on Wellington’s network of interconnected pathways and walkways, and Lake Wellington is a great place to fish or enjoy paddling in a kayak or canoe.  

Last but certainly not least, for the “food lovers:” Wellington has some amazing restaurants that cover the range of culinary desires.   For Italian, Agliolio’s Italian Bistro serves homemade Italian dishes that everyone enjoys. Oli’s Fashion Cuisine is a hot spot for elevated, artfully presented New American fare and cocktails in modern surrounds. The recently opened Trophy Room has a New American menu with global influences which features a selection of prime beef, Florida seafood and brick-oven pizzas. For tacos and margaritas, head over to Don Chepo’s! Craving sushi? Kabuki has been a Palm Beach County destination for years, having locations on Clematis as well as PGA Boulevard. Now they’ve come west and opened a Wellington location. Looking for some beef? Get your burger fix at Beauty and the Beeeef. Located on the outside of the Mall at Wellington Green, it’s a perfect place to dine when craving a great burger.   Wellington is a little village with a lot going on.
